In early September I submitted my MA Dissertation titled "The Indigenization of Christianity in Japan: The Mukyokai and the Makuya." I am still waiting on my marks, but hopefully I will have them by the end of November. I will be returning to Ireland within the week, so hopefully my journey back will be without any complications.
I've been working over the last month to determine the possible costs of researching in Japan. Currently, it looks like the total cost for around 3 months would be close to $6000 including housing, utilities, food, mobile phone costs as well as flights to and from Ireland. However I discovered that I many be able to be affiliated with a University in Tokyo, which would allow me to avail of their discounted student housing. This would cut the cost of accommodation in half, meaning that I have more money for research.
In order to raise money for research in Japan, I will be launching a GoFundMe campaign in the near future. Currently I am waiting to discover if I can gain University affiliation. If so, I will be reducing the total cost of research. More info will be posted when I receive confirmation from the University.
